One of the many advantages of living in Las Vegas is that the weather allows for people to be outside in the sun almost all year long. That’s why outdoor dining is such a draw in so many places around town, as there’s really nothing like sitting in the sun and enjoying a nice lunch before getting back into your day. You probably have no idea what it’s like to be sitting at your table only to suddenly look towards a noise and to see a vehicle flying directly at you. That is what happened last week, and the driver of that vehicle has been arrested.
On Monday afternoon at just after 12:30 p.m., a total of 10 people were injured as they were eating at the Egg & I restaurant which is located at 4533 West Sahara Avenue between Arville Street and Decatur Boulevard. The 18-year-old male driver of a Lexus was involved in a crash on a nearby street just prior to this incident, and after driving over a curb and a wall the vehicle literally flew onto the patio and into a crowd of patrons. No updates were given with regards to the 10 people who were injured in this crash, but the driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI-drugs resulting in substantial bodily harm, felony reckless driving and felony hit and run. The last charge came because the driver attempted to flee the scene only to be detained by witnesses.
Every year in Nevada, thousands of people are injured and nearly 400 people are killed in different types of crashes. It seems quite likely that the people who were injured in this incident will seek the help of Las Vegas accident attorneys to find out how they should proceed against the driver who was allegedly responsible for the crash and for the injuries suffered by the patrons.
