Enbrel (scientific name - Etanercept) is used to treat the symptoms of moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis, polyarticular-course juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA), and psoriatic arthritis. Etanercept reduces the actions of chemicals in the body that are involved in inflammatory and immune responses. Enbrel works with your immune system to help control the inflammation caused by RA. By enhancing the action of this naturally occurring protein, Enbrel treats your RA by controlling stiffness and other pains, and also slowing down the progression of damage points.

If you have an allergy to benzyl alcohol If you suffer from suppression of your immune system If you have a bone marrow disease If you have a demyelinating disorder such as multiple sclerosis, myelitis, or optic neuritis Pregnant women, and certainly now if you are breastfeeding.

Enbrel also causes worsening muscle pain, weakness or numbness, visual disturbances, seizures and also some psychological changes. Other less serious side effects are stuffy nose, cough, sore throat, cold, fever and other signs of infection, headaches, swelling at the injection site.
