Influenza is a contagious viral disease. It damages the lungs and the linings of the respiratory tract. The tissues then become swollen and inflamed, however the damage is not permanent .Those tissues generally heal in about a few weeks. Although influenza is called a respiratory disease it still affects the complete body. The symptoms of this disease are acute fever, chills, weakness, loss of appetite, headache, backache, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, and also burning eyes. There is however a Influenza vaccine, also called the Influenza shot. This vaccine is made each year so that the vaccine can contain influenza viruses that are expected to cause illness that year. The viruses in the vaccine are inactivated so that someone vaccinated cannot get influenza from the vaccine. Instead the person vaccinated develops protection in his/her body in the form of substances called antibodies. Since the immunity provided by the vaccine wanes after several months, it is given at the beginning of the "flu season" -- usually late October or early November in the United States. People traveling to other countries should be aware that influenza occurs throughout the year in tropical countries and that the "flu season" for temperate countries in the Southern Hemisphere is April to September. The reaction to this vaccine are not very serious and usually not many people have any reactions. Some may develop a red, swollen area where the vaccine was given. People who already have a respiratory disease may find these symptoms to worsen, still those wont last for more than a few days. Who should get this vaccine? People who are at high-risk should be vaccinated yearly against influenza. Also those who provide care to high-risk patients should be vaccinated. People with chronic disorders of the lungs and heart. Who should not be vaccinated: People with a severe allergic reaction to chickens or egg protein People with with fever or illness Anyone with a previous reaction to the influenza shot Pregnant women IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW HAS BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED, YOU NEED THE LAW FIRM OF BOURGAULT & HARDING CALL 800.880.1438 Copyright 2006 - All Rights Reserved Bourgault & Harding, A Law Firm 1100 East Bridger Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89101 tel 702.384.8023 fax 702.384.5731 Nevada Flu Vaccine Attorneys Disclaimer: The Las Vegas Auto Accidents, and Big-Rig Accidents, Motorcycle Accidents, Bicycle Accidents, Airplane Accidents, Bus & Train Accidents, Pedestrian Accidents, Boating & Watercraft Accidents, Swimming Pool Accidents, Amusement Park Accidents, Construction Site Accidents, Drunk Driver Accidents, Defective Roads Accidents, Wrongful Death, Spinal Cord Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury, Burn Injury, Animal Attacks/Dog Bite, Slip and Fall Accidents, Premises Liability, Dangerous Drugs Litigation, Defective Medical Devices, Medical Malpractice, Legal Malpractice, Product Liability, Toxic Substances in Nevada.
