Spring Snowstorm in Mountains Creates Chaos on Roads

E-mail Print
Spring in the mountains can be nothing short of breathtaking for its scenery and the warming temperatures.  However, spring does not signify the end of the snow season in and around Lake Tahoe, and when these storms hit everyone who happens to be on the roads is in a position of risk and danger.  Such appeared to be the case yesterday when a snowstorm created several different accidents on both the California and Nevada side of the border.

According to the Tahoe Daily Tribune:

"Winter returned to South Shore on Tuesday with a storm that dropped several inches of snow at lake level and contributed to a spate of crashes on area roadways.

Between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nevada Highway Patrol officers responded to 21 traffic collisions throughout Northern Nevada, according to a statement from Nevada Highway Patrol spokesman Chuck Allen.

Five crashes on Kingsbury Grade — including a head on collision, a three car crash, and a four car accident — caused State Route 207 to be closed for about 40 minutes Tuesday morning. Paramedics took one person involved in the four car collision to the hospital, Allen said.

The Nevada Highway Patrol also logged five accidents on Highway 50 west of U.S. 395 through Tuesday afternoon, including two that caused injuries, Allen said."

If you are forced to drive through snow and ice, there is almost no amount of caution that would be seen as too extreme.  If you or someone you love has been harmed in an auto accident, you need the help of a Nevada personal injury lawyer who has years of experience in holding those responsiblef or driving mistakes or recklessness accountable.  Contact the Sam Harding Law Firm today to schedule a free initial consultation.
