Nevada Dog Bite Attack Statistics Paint a Troubling Picture

It’s been more than a week now since two explosions led to devastation for so many people and to an outpouring of emotions across the United States. We would like to join the millions of others who have expressed their utmost in support to anyone who has been affected by this terrible situation. We hope that everyone who has suffered is able to somehow, with the help of loved ones, put their lives back together and move forward. Knowing the great city of Boston as we do, we have no doubt that it’s going to continue to rally in a way that makes the entire country proud.

Unfortunately, one of the common injuries that was suffered as a result of these explosions was amputations. The Washington Post stated that at this point, 14 people lost limbs because of this incident, and many of them were likely due to flying shrapnel that was allegedly placed in the devices that were left to explode. A total of 260 people were injured, and the severity of those injuries varied widely. However, those who lost limbs will face a difficult time ahead as they attempt to relearn so many of the things that they may have taken for granted for most of their lives.

The people who have lost limbs in this attack should take some comfort in the fact that they are far from alone. Some of the statistics regarding amputations in the United States are somewhat surprising, including:

  • 65,000 amputations are performed in the United States every year.
  • 1.7 million people in the United States are living as amputees.
  • 22 percent of amputations in the United States occur because of some form of trauma.
  • 77 percent of American amputation procedures are performed on males.

What all of this means for the people who lost limbs last week is that there are resources out there for them to make use of aside from the support they are hopefully getting from family and friends. Below are a few links to potential resources:

Anyone who spends any amount of time online will no doubt be able to find ample resources and opportunities to find help for the struggles that they are going to face. When faced with a difficult circumstance that can be overcome, people should not hesitate to lean on others who understand what it’s like to suddenly lose a limb and to be forced to continue living life. Too many people have succeeded at finding happiness and fulfillment for anyone to allow themselves to suffer.

We have been serving clients as Las Vegas injury lawyers for many years, and over the years we have encountered people who have lost limbs in car accidents and in other incidents. It is truly an inspiration to watch them move past this time and get back on the horse of life. The Sam Harding Law Firm would like to wish everyone who suddenly faces this struggle because of the events of last week the best.
