People who driver motorcycles all tend to swear by them for several different reasons. After all, motorcycles are extremely fun to drive, they allow you to experience the open road and they are extremely fuel efficient. They also tend to be less expensive than many larger vehicles on average. Unfortunately, motorcycles are also at a distinct disadvantage when they collide with sedans, SUVs and trucks. Sadly, we were reminded of that fact once again recently.
On Tuesday night, a Las Vegas motorcycle accident took place at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Silverado Ranch Boulevard. According to reports, the accident occurred when the 28-year-old female driver of a Mini Cooper attempted to turn left from Las Vegas Boulevard onto Silverado Ranch Boulevard. However, the vehicle wound up in the path of an oncoming motorcycle and the two people on that motorcycle were critically injured when it collided with the Mini Cooper. The names of the people involved were not released.
This is the second Las Vegas motorcycle accident to occur when a vehicle turned left in front of the smaller bike within the last two weeks. Every year, more than 1,000 people are injured and nearly 50 people are killed in Nevada motorcycle accidents of all types that occur across the state. This crash will ultimately become part of that body of statistics.
Hopefully the people who were critically injured in this crash are able to recover fully and move on with their lives. However, they and anyone who has been injured in this type of a crash should at least look into their legal rights and options. That’s because if this accident was the fault of the driver of the sedan, then it could be advisable to pursue legal remedies that could lead to a recovery of damages from the at-fault party.
