There are times when asserting someone’s legal rights can seem cold and harsh, but yet doing so is absolutely necessary in order to make sure that justice is served. For instance, there are car accidents that are caused by a person’s reckless driving that leave people badly injured where that reckless driver is killed. Those who are injured may not want to jump into the legal world if the insurance company involved in the crash is not acting reasonably, as no one wants to tie up a person’s estate in court.
However, these steps are necessary at times because people can be seriously injured through no fault of their own. Tragically, that could be what plays out in the aftermath of a wrong-way Las Vegas car accident in which the driver headed in the wrong direction was killed. According to police, the crash occurred on southbound U.S. Highway 95 near Auto Show Drive. The wrong-way driver was allegedly moving in a northbound direction in the southbound lanes for several miles before colliding head-on with another vehicle.
The driver in the other vehicle was critically injured and he was rushed to a nearby hospital. Neither of the names of those involved was released, but this crash will now become yet another entry in the database of Nevada car accident statistics. Every year, thousands of people are injured and nearly 400 people are killed in different types of crashes.
Hopefully, the insurance company or companies involved with these two drivers will do the right thing and provide a fair and equitable settlement for the person who was critically injured. If not, it could become necessary to fight to hold those insurance companies accountable so that the critically injured person can recover the compensation he will need to cover losses that he has already incurred and those that he will realize in the future.
